Scanned PDF OCR

Recognize Korean and English text in scanned PDFs and save a PDF you can search and copy from. Existing text is kept.

Use this tool directly in your browser without installing software or signing in.

Text PDFs and scanned PDFs

PDFs with selectable text use the existing characters. Scanned PDFs store pages as images and need OCR to read the text.

With OCR off, you can still save scanned pages in DOCX, PPTX or HWPX by preserving page appearance. Text inside those images is not editable.

DOCX and XLSX conversion limits

DOCX carries over PDF text and pictures; XLSX extracts tables visible in the PDF. Original formulas and charts cannot be restored if they are no longer in the PDF.

Complex tables, columns and fonts can differ. If no table can be found in the PDF, it cannot be converted to XLSX.

OCR data and privacy

Your PDF and result stay in this browser and are not sent to an OCR server. The site downloads recognition files when you first use OCR.

OCR needs those files to be downloaded before it can work offline. Reopen the site online and try again.

Large documents

OCR renders and recognizes pages one at a time, so it takes longer than embedded-text extraction. For 50+ pages, close heavy tabs and keep enough memory and power available.

Mobile operating systems may close memory-intensive tabs, so long documents are generally more reliable on a desktop browser.

What is the difference between editing text in a document and organizing pages?

Use page editing to merge submission files into one or keep only the necessary pages. This is not for rewriting text content, but for organizing the sequence, structure, and orientation of pages.

Choose PDF to Image to use pages like photos, or Image to PDF to bind multiple photos into one document. Use Document Conversion to bring PDF text into an editable document, or OCR to add searchable text to scanned documents. Always compare the result with the original text after conversion.

Examples and Selection Help

Common task examples: Try "Combine 3 submission documents into one" → Merge feature, "Save only pages 2-4 of a contract" → Split/Extract feature, "Convert entire pages to PNG" → Image conversion, "Search words in a scanned document" → OCR feature.

Why can't I search for words in a scanned PDF?

Use OCR to search words in scanned PDFs where text cannot be selected. After saving, search a few words and numbers; compare names, dates and amounts with the original.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make the whole PDF searchable?

Yes. Leave the full range selected. Automatic OCR reads scanned pages that need it and keeps existing text. Turning OCR off adds no new searchable text.

Do I need to specify pages?

No. Leaving the range blank processes every page. Enter page numbers if you need only part of the PDF.
