Find line, word and character changes between two texts, copy selected changes and save your result.
Use this tool directly in your browser without installing software or signing in.
- Line, word and character comparison
- Literal ignore rules
- Copy selected changes
How to compare
- Paste text or open a file on each side.
- Choose the comparison unit and optional ignore settings.
- Select Compare and inspect the highlighted original and revised text.
- Copy selected lines using the arrows, then save a TXT file.
Spaces and line endings
Ignoring spaces applies within lines. Normalizing line endings excludes CRLF versus LF differences from comparison while retaining the original text. For a notice with a changed deadline, inspect the date line before copying the revision.
File size and downloads
Choose files up to 4 MB each. UTF-8 and UTF-16 with a BOM are supported. Large or highly repetitive text can use less detailed highlighting or reach a processing limit. Select the download encoding and BOM option, and check important content in the saved file. Each input supports up to 200,000 lines.
New files, reset and undo
Opening a new file starts fresh undo history while keeping comparison settings. Reset inputs and settings clears both inputs, settings and history. Original files stay unchanged.
Trim lines and remove empty lines combines both operations into one undoable step. Line operations use LF/CRLF endings; sorting follows character-code order and keeps duplicates.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files or text sent to a server?
Comparison and download preparation run in your browser. Your input text and file contents are not sent to a server.
Do ignore rules delete original text?
No. They exclude text only from comparison. Original characters remain available in the result, downloads and copied changes.
How do fine detail, word and character comparison differ?
Word comparison highlights changed words. Fine detail also checks characters inside replacements, while character comparison keeps emoji and combining characters together. Large sections may use line-level comparison.
Will the original file be overwritten?
No. Copied changes and transformations affect the editors. Save TXT downloads a new file.
